Joyful Noise C-Fund's For the Love of Literacy "Pizza Plus Books" 2019 Event!

Pizza Plus Books Returns For the Fifth Year At the Loutit Library!

****************************************************************************************************

Joyful Noise Christian Childcare’s C-Fund is ready to give away many brand new books to young readers at the fifth consecutive “Pizza Plus Books” event on Wednesday, March 13th from 4:30-6:30 p.m., in program rooms A and B at Loutit District Library in Grand Haven!

No registration is necessary for the book fair, which is open to the public and will offer free books to underserved children from infancy up through eight years of age. Attendees can also enjoy a free pizza dinner from Domino’s as well as access to other early childhood resources.

“I have been able to help at the Literacy Event each year,” said Sue Sturgill, financial administrator of Joyful Noise Christian Childcare. “It is so heartwarming to watch the kids pick out their books! Reading is so important at an early age and I am very proud to help get books into children's hands.”

A 2005 High Scope learning study found that “the greatest amount of brain growth occurs between birth and age five” and that nearly all of the brain’s core structure has been formed by the age of just 3 years old. A strong foundation for literacy is developed at this time, and access to age-appropriate books is an essential part of that groundwork and a cornerstone of the Joyful Noise C-Fund’s Love of Literacy program mission. The C-Fund seeks to connect young children and families with not only high-quality books, but also early childhood resources to support lifelong learning.

Can you help the Joyful Noise C-Fund with a Book Donation?

The Bookman Collects New Books for the C-Fund’s Free Literacy Event

A local book store is ditching the fiction for a true story that is bound to enrich the lives of local Ottawa County children.

GRAND HAVEN, Michigan (February 5th, 2016)-The Bookman, Grand Haven’s local bookstore, is collecting new books from now until Wednesday, March 9th for the Joyful Noise C-Fund as they prepare for this year’s Love of Literacy Pizza Plus Books give-a-way. The event, which will take place at Loutit Library on March 16th, gifted 2,000 books last year to children in need. Participants also enjoyed a free pizza dinner.

This year, more of the same fun activities are planned, but the event’s organizers are reaching out to the community for help in collecting new, age-appropriate books for children ages 0-8. “We were so grateful last year for the help we received from our sponsors, School Zone and Brilliance Audio,” said Chantal Roeske, public relations counsel for Joyful Noise Childcare and the C-Fund, “But we still found that we fell short in some areas—especially chapter books for older school children. The Junie B. Jones books went like lightning!”

This year, event organizers hope to fill in those gaps and reach more children and families in need than ever before. To support the book drive, customers can either purchase books at the Bookman (located at 715 Washington Ave.) for children up to age 8, or bring their own new books to be deposited in a marked donation box inside. The Wednesday before the literacy event, the books will be collected in time to organize them by age and genre for the event’s attending families.

Ringing the Bells with Joy at Muskegon Rescue Mission!

The Gift of Music visited the Muskegon Rescue Mission on December 21st for a fun hour of bell ringing, carol singing, and Christmas story reading!

The group that participated were children of residents at Muskegon Rescue Mission, which has served individuals and families in need in the Muskegon Area with clothes, food, shelter and other services since 1907.

Early on Monday morning, Miss Chantal arrived with a bag full of jingle bells, stringed instruments and other fun musical goodies. The children enjoyed dancing with scarves, learning about different types of bells, and singing along to popular Christmas carols.

At the end of class, each child received a Velcro jingle bell bracelet to keep! Program planning, travel, staff expenses and the cost of instruments are all a part of the C-Fund's Gift of Music Program. Any gift--whether big or small--makes a huge difference to our funding and directly impacts the lives of children in our area who are in need.

You can support wonderful programs like the C-Fund's Gift of Music program by making a cash or check donation to our 501(c)3 profit. Donations made before January 1st will be deductible for the 2015 tax year!

Spring Updates--Feeling Fresh!

Spring Updates--Feeling Fresh!

We have been so pleased with the accomplishments from Joyful Noise's C-Fund so far in the new year. Here are some highlights!

Loutit Library Pizza+ Books

What an absolute success our early childhood literacy event was! Thank you so much to all who attended. We were so thrilled to successfully serve children from infancy to eight years of age with free quality reading materials and a yummy pizza dinner.
One million thanks to the support we recieved from:
Check out the Youtube video of special musical guest Brian Vander Ark (formerly of The Verve Pipe) performing at this awesome and free literary event!

With the hundreds of high quality books we had left over after the event, we were able to donate to other great programs such as Grand Haven Head Start and Holland Rescue Mission.

The Gift of Music Continues!

Our high quality, free early childhood music classes are continuing this year as planned! "Sing and Slide" (a fun multi-class session that includes a free gift of a slide whistle and companion materials) has been traveling to Grand Haven Head Start to target the students who attend there. The children are enjoying every moment of the fun singing, dancing and movement that is included for them in each week's lesson! This summer Miss Chantal will also be traveling back to Stepping Stones daycare in Holland to teach free classes. Stepping Stones is program of the Holland Rescue Mission, and a childcare center supporting the homeless and transient of Holland, Michigan.
